Guys, look, I love Lil Wayne and I feel the need to share with the class even though I don't know shit. I know a few things, but not enough things. Gonna try with what I've got anyway. I AM NOT AN OLD SCHOOL FAN. I AM A NOOB BUT I AM A REALLY SMITTEN ONE SO IT'S OKAY.

Lil Wayne's full name is Dwayne Carter, Jr. He goes by Wayne instead of Dwayne because his father isn't in his life and he doesn't want to share the name I guess. He's twenty six, and got signed when he was like twelve, and was famous by age sixteen pretty much (he's only gotten more famous since, don't worry). Brian Williams, aka Birdman, is his mentor/the dude who discovered him, and they've got an album together called "Like Father, Like Son" that was released in 2006. Weezy looks up to the guy as a father figure pretty much. (He's also been photographed kissing the dude.
So, uh, yeah, there's that.

I'm not entirely convinced that Lil Wayne isn't actually just trolling the world at this point, especially after some of the shenanigans he and T-Pain have gotten up to.

SO. Anyway, the dude is TINY and occasionally ADORABLE and likes to talk about money a lot. This makes sense, seeing as he was signed to (and was briefly president of) a record label called Cash Money.
He had an interview with Katie Couric not long ago! He talks about being misunderstood, and how he feels that music is a form of journalism! He has four custom-made bowling balls! HE GOES BOWLING WITH KATIE COURIC, GUYS. He talks about growing up in New Orleans and also about Katrina! This is one of the few interviews of his I've seen where he isn't fucked up.
He and Katie Couric also have this kind of creepy chemistry and I can't help but wonder if they had sex after this. :psyduck:
Oh here's some interview with some guy from London. Part 2 is in the related videos and I guess you can watch if you want but it's not quite as interesting as the Katie Couric one. More music discussion, though, including an anecdote about Kanye trying to give him like 15 different joints for Tha Carter III and he was all "leave me alone D:" hahaha. He also talks about how he doesn't party too hard because otherwise he wouldn't be able to keep up his constant musical output!

I Feel Like Dying, which is about marijuana, and which I am mostly linking because I really like the picture they use in the video, shut up. ;__;
Dr. Carter is a hilarious song with kind of a frame narrative, I guess? See, Lil Wayne's a doctor, and his patients are bad MCs! He tries to save them with rhymes! IT IS AMAZING. I LOVE THIS SONG.
okay anyway i'm feeling really lazy right now so i'm basically gonna leave it at that.
you should pick up tha carter iii if you're even remotely interested, because it's pretty good. so is his earlier stuff. but i like tha carter iii best, so there, i love bandwagons.
