Things are coming to an end...

We concluded our last long mission outside the wire. There was no fanfare or cheering crowds. We cracked some near beers and congratulated each other.
It's the last time the whole Company will be outside at one time.

There was a terrific sandstorm the day we rolled back in. I could hardly see the road. At time's I couldn't even see the front of ( Read more... )

Home to Providence, renting an apartment, buying a bike, buying a car, getting set to go back to school, the list goes on.

Yea I'm done... I think I'll be paperworked out by August/September.

The goose is named Lucy. AJ's daughter mailed it to him. I'm sure she had help... she is only 3. She has in the past also mailed him a lucky charms a pasta necklace (that he was required to wear for one whole day), various assortments of cookies... and an empty box of pringles. (She ate them before sending.)

It gets on well with the Pink Flamingo that susiespf mailed me.

The desolation is beautiful. Sometimes it is hard to remember when reading about Halliburton, Abu Ghraib, Rumsfeld, insurgents, car bombs, and explosions at mosques that beauty can still be found in such a ruined land.
