Congratulations. I often wonder if many of us who take citizenship for granted could pass the citizenship test.

I hope so.
After a brief interview where I confirmed that all my answers in the application where true and correct I had to answer 5 verbal questions.
The questions that I was asked (in order):
Who is the President?
What is the Law of the Land?
Who would currently succeed the President?
How many stars are on the US flag?
Name one amendment of the US Constitution.
This was followed by me reading a sentence in English and then writing down the same sentence in my own hand (handwriting sample me thinks)
"Sally cooks in the Kitchen."
This was the "Test"
cheers,
Ype

Who wrote the constitution? (Jefferson though I'd like to give some
credit to his buddies... the book answer that they want to hear is Jefferson)
Who is the current President? (The Monkey... err I mean W .)
Who becomes the President if the President and the Vice President where to die? (Speaker of the House)
What is one benefit of being a United States Citizen? (I answered with "the right to vote")

Congrats... I still find it kind of odd that you were in the American army yet weren't an American yet.

I think I've heard that serving in the U.S. armed forces shaves off a few years for people applying for citizenship.

odd eh? Damn good recruitment tool if you ask me. Vets of foreign wars get waived on fees and the process is much much faster.
