You could do my family :) My grandma wants to know if her mother was born in Ireland, because she can get Irish citizenship if she was.
I tried figuring it out, and may have made some progress. I might have found when her mother and family arrived on Elis Island, but it's based on a lot of "what ifs."
Either have Ibby give you my AIM handle or e-mail me. I'll need to have something dated before 1930 to start with. Your grandmother's mother would definitely qualify. Usually great-grandparents do the trick, sometimes grandparents.
It's always worth a shot. Sometimes, even if you have the area that they lived, you can find something with that.
Say, you know your great-grandparents names, and know where they were born/grew up. I could search the 1930 census for the county, using their first name and find a surname close to it. That would then lead me to their parents, and some other spelling suggestions...
