Robin sighed he was tired and hungry and aching in places no 13 year old should ache and it wasn't even a fun type of aching because regardless of how much Batman tried to shelter him from adult situations he knew what sex was.

He shed off his uniform and relaxed his shoulders as the weight physically and figuratively dropped from his shoulders.

All he wanted was a warm hot chocolate and some of those cookies that alfred had made this morning.

He walked into a kitchen and slumped into a chair he knew Alfred would know what he needed.

"Had a tough night Master Dick?" Alfred spoke softly and it made robin aware of how alone the two of them were.

"I know being a teenager is supposed to be hard but I think its a bit harder for me right now." Robin sighed deeply as he smelled the Hot chocolate being boiled on the stove. "I am definitely Over-Whelmed right now."

Robin thought about Artemis, the team, the Justice League, and all the cover missions and stopped to remember how literal all this was. How dangerous this all was, and how easy life was to crush out of a person.

"Everything is so messed up now the team, the covert missions. You know?"

Alfred made a murmur of agreement as he took out a mug for the hot chocolate. Robin knew that he really didn't know but it comforted him none the less.

"Nothing's ever simple anymore. I'm constantly trying to work it out. Who to love or hate. Who to trust. It's just, like, the more I know, the more confused I get." Robin leaned his head on the back of his chair.

"I believe most people call that growing up Master Dick" Alfred gave a small smile as he set the tray down.

"Well I'd like to stop now." Robin brought the drink to his lips. He wanted to be able to just sit at home and drink hot chocolate with alfred and just stay.

"I know the feeling." Alfred merely eyed Robin as he took a cookie and shoved it down his throat and then reopened his mouth when the Hot chocolate was to hot for his tongue to handle.

Robin panted a bit before swallowing the cooled chocolate and partially eaten cookie.

"Does it get any easier?" He asked seriously as he watched Alfred look a bit taken back by the question.

"you mean life?"

"Yeah does it ever get just simpler?" Robin sipped the last of his hot chocolate. "I mean in your whole life did it seem that it was getting a bit easier."

"Would you rather i tell you the truth or lie?" Alfred asked as he got up to prepare a cup of coffee for Master Bruce when he arrived.

Robin thought it over "Lie to me"

Alfred brought the coffee pot over to the sink and stood still before turning around to face Dick not Robin but Dick Grayson a Young teenage boy looking a bit as he would say whelmed.

"Yes It's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, the heros will always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after."
He turned back around and started to clean the coffee pot when he notice Dick had come up to the sink.

Dick smiled as he set the empty plate and mug in the sink.

"Liar. But thanks for trying" He walked out the door before shouting a good night to Alfred.

Alfred wished him a restful night and prepared to make some more cookies as Master Bruce would be needing some tonight.
