For cheap, I'd try the Warehouse or there used to be a place in Cuba Mall that had a permanent sale on (between Farmers and Dixon St, across from Whitcoulls; don't know if it's still there). For probably more expensive, there's furniture shops, Farmers and/or the woodwork place in Aro St next to the fish & chip shop (I know they do garden benches; not sure about chests). Possibly Stacks at 187 Adelaide Rd, Newtown (but they may mostly do couches)?

I did have a vague click around on trademe, but it didn't occur to me to actually search "wooden chest". *headdesk* Anyhoo, sale on at that place on Cuba Street over the weekend, done and dusted :)
