I really enjoyed reading this, both because I agree with just about everything you said, but also because it was nice to hear from you.

I have many issues with RPF, even after writing a kinky/angsty RPS story. So I hear ya. Oh yes I do. But at the same time, we should read/write without shame, especially since being naked in public is illegal.

That's the thing - if I started feeling ashamed, I'd never get anything done. Also, I do believe that we can't control what other people choose to think about us, and if people choose to tell made-up stories about other people (and flag them as made-up), then that's not something you can control. Being respectful and behaving well is to be desired in fandom as anywhere, but I think/hope that's possible without having to put my shiny new toys back in the toy box.

One of the brilliant things about fandom is it has trained me to think more consciously about things like this. Also to be more shameless :D

Tee hee. I knew a guy who used to make a children's programme called "What's My Weird Thing" about animals and the weird and wonderful things about them. My weird thing = adoring British panel show guys. As Kath'n'Kim would say, we've all got one.
