Golden-crowned kinglets, dark-eyed oregon juncos, chestnut-backed chickadees: these are the birds that we have identified in our new home so far. February is already so much better than January was; days of patchy sun and clouds and not nearly as much rain, spring is around the corner here. Time to start planning the garden, and ordering seeds

one of the wonderful things about the northwest is that spring (as far as the plants and birds are concerned, anyway: it's still cold) lasts forever.
