Tagline: AU in which every child of a Pendragon bears the Mark of the Dragon, a sign that there is a dragon in their ancestry.
Series: Merlin AUs
Notes: A fanfic about this is on the works but, considering I’m working without a plot... err.
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip): The wings. Goddammit, the wings. It's a pity that there aren't pics (stock images, photos of props, dragon figures in HQ) to use for a decent manip, because the Merthur I did for the fourth square is very big and there is no HQ version of the wings I used.
Edit: Actually, there is. But they look so fake I cannot seems to find a way to mask their screaming "I'm made of plastic".
Disclaimer: Don't own anything on this.

About the AU
In a world where in the past existed dragons with the ability to shape into humans, there are bloodlines which ancestry traces back to the child of a dragon and a human. These people bear a sign for the dragon blood diluted in their veins, the Mark of the Dragons, usually scales that grow in small patches over the otherwise full human body.
Once in a while, these families are born one special child, in whom the power of the ancient progenitor is stronger. This child, called the Child of the Dragons, will bear physical features of their magical forefather, like wings, tail, or the ability to use the elements.
The Pendragon House has been founded by the son of a man with a red Dragon Mark and a woman with a gold one. Its descendants are born with a patch of scales, in one of the two colors, on the side of the neck. With the bloodline originated from two Marked people, the dragon blood is strong in the family and a Child of the Dragons is born to the men, every few generations, but never as the firstborn.
Uther Pendragon, after a brief illicit affair with Vivienne, his friend Gorlois's wife, asks for Nimueh's help to conceive a heir with his queen, Ygraine, unknowing that Vivienne is expecting his firstborn.
Arthur is born, at the price of his mother’s life, and Uther launches his personal war against magic, worsened when he discovers that his heir has the marks of the Child of the Dragons.
Dragonlords, whose ability could allow them to control a Child of the Dragons as much as they can with the ancient winged creatures, are wiped out by Uther to protect his son and the future of Camelot.
Unbeknownst to him, a Dragonlord survived and the son he never knew he conceived is about to come to Camelot, and the future of the Prince is already set.
Arthur has a nice massive pair of dragon wings, a heavy tail and a set of hard scales running down the backbone. He’s bigger than the average man and will put even Percival to shame. He towers Merlin by a good head and the poor warlock has no hope to ever scoop His Royal Weightiness up. On the other side, he makes for an excellent bedroll mate, for he's always burning like a warming pan. And, when he's not acting like a prat, or a dragon who got his hoard stolen, he's even more than a decent future king.
