EDIT: I mean I'm surprised to find a euphemism more bloodless than "downsizing", not that I'm surprised by a layoff or anything. I'm fine. Everything's fine here. How are you?

i was fired once; my boss pulled me into an aisle (it was a bookstore) and said, "ryan, we need to... sever."
