That's the feeling I love from this show: that bittersweetness, where everything's falling apart but there's still pie and, on occasion, Bon Jovi. I'm glad this captured a little of that feeling.

Ohhhh my goodness. When Sam moved over to Dean's side of the booth and snuggled him up, I made happy noises. Sleepy twitching, uneasy breathing, watchful watchful Sammeh... gahhhhh. I love his adrenaline twitchiness too, with the drumming all over everything. AND THE FACE!PIE. Aaaahhh so much good. It also just is an awesome representation of that up-way-too-late feeling, with Sam getting his second wind and everything being kind of heightened by the sleep deprivation and the weird hour. And hmm. And Sam's sense that all his troubles are elsewhere, or you know, unaddressable, like, nothing more is expected of him, what could he possibly get done at four am in the middle of nowhere, so he can just chill.

I love when you write things. Please write more things.

This entire story was calculated to inspire happy noises. Because I'm sneaky that way.

Originally this was going to be Dean POV, but then Sam's head was just so much fun to get into. I tried really hard to capture that up-too-late sensation (because I've got intimate personal experience there: damn you, sociology papers) so I'm glad it came through okay. Also with the twitchiness. I have way too much fun with this antsy-Dean-placid-Sammy dynamic....

More things? Oh, you betcha. ;)
