This is lovely. I can hear the sounds from the kitchen as a backdrop and maybe the occasional car out on the road. It reminds me very much of Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. Such a nice depiction of that hazy, false dawn time of the night.

I loved this snapshot in time and I loved the after-midnight hour you picked to expand on. That weird not-quite-night-not-quite-day time is definitely eerie but you spun it in a comforting direction--laughter and schmoop. I don't know how, but you put together a food fight with a sleepy Dean.

This is some of my favorite kids of fic, especially now. Nostalgia and roadside diners.

This was a weird one to write. It went from "Dean falls asleep on Sam's shoulder" to "Dean freaks out and eats pie all night" to "Sam and Dean get into a food fight," and then the whole thing just rolled into one eerie, dazed, cuddly ball of schmoop. My mind works in mysterious ways, I guess. :P

I do my best, in between bouts of angst and h/c, to make up for all of the pie and cuddles that never make it onscreen. As a public service of sorts, to make up for all my cruelty.
