I actually know people in both schools. I'm closer to the peeps in Oxford, and naturally they say that Cambridge sucks, but I think they're just exaggerating.

The main issue with applying international is that I don't know how financial aid works in the UK or Japan. D8 My family can't even afford 20k a year for uni here; how's 50k+ overseas?

True. There's hardly any financial aid over here, and since the fees are likely to increase it could mean a degree would cost more here than in the US. Not really worth it without the financial aid. (I'm assuming you're going for something science related, which at Cambridge costs about £14k right now - translates to almost $21k. In 2012 that amount could triple D:)

Yeah, I checked Cambridge and Oxford's tuition costs already...Todai and Kyoto Daigaku are at least doable, but cost of living and exams are going to be hellish.
