Oh lordy. What a G-D month it's been. I love the summer and its extravagance.

In June I took my general exam: that's a 3-hour oral exam where they probe and prod your thesis proposal and then basically ok it and tell you you're allowed to get on with your life only now you're a PhC I guess. Candidate. So now I'm a candidate.

yay for comics readings!

my advice is, don't depend on technology working (if you are trying to use a digital projector or powerpoint or whatever). bring copies that people can hold while you read in case the tech doesn't work.

thanks for the advice, i'll use it. you are v prescient, i got an email almost simultaneously saying "well we're not really sure how the projector works but i'm sure we can figure it out." I'm kind of into the idea of never scanning this one anyway.

Darest, what a cool post. We run different races, crash into/through each other at the finish line (swapping hats as we reel past each other, chaplin style) (the modern version of gibran's "feeding each other bread"), say hello.

I just looked at APE dates-- that *may* be the weekend before I start at Headsprout (maybe), but if that's not the case (and maybe if it is) I'd hella love to come along. We can make "Marry Me" a more attractive proposition.
