Life on the field is hard, man. Today I got here, and today I conducted my first interview. At the end of the interview, since my interviewee really wanted to know what it was exactly that I was after (and he quite insisted on knowing), I sorta explained that I was attempting to track language change with respect to katrina... and he told me I was ( Read more... )

At least you have a use-able interview. I haven't heard back from any of the places I've cold called, so I'm back to doing street interviews with people who just dress Lolita but aren't really lolita. Yay being able to rent the costumes *sigh* I need to make friends and go to a loli tea party, but *sigh*...

Yeah, doing fieldwork is a great way of reminding yourself how very, very dependent you are on other people for your successes. Here's hoping today is better!
