I really ♥ this entry. ^_^ This show is making me want to bone up on my Arthurian legend. Suggestions? Pretty much all I've read is all that Marion Zimmer Bradley...crapstuff and 3 chapters of The Once and Future King.
Well, the big fictional Arthurian stuff of my childhood are Mary Stewart's Merlin books (there are 4 of them iirc? and it starts with Merlin's childhood, heh and goes on from there). V. classic kind of old school stuff

Oh wow!! Thank you so much for all of that. I've actually *cough* seen First Knight, it's fucking awful but I have a soft spot for it in a childhood movie sort of way. Even if I thought it was cack the first time I saw it. But um, really don't bothher. You don't like Lancelot? I normally don't either, but I REALLY liked the show's take. I...am sort of becoming horribly tempted to watch the KK version of it, to be honest

Yeah, I generally pretty much hate Lancelot, but not the show's version, I quite like him and I am building this whole theory of what is going to happen that is probably not at all what is going to happen, BUT STILL.
OMG! Lena Headey! How do I not remember that? Why don't I have a copy of my very own? Argh! (Afaik, she is Merlin's pupil that he teaches the ways of magic and then she locks him away for varied reasons? Usually a seductress type figure and it's often framed that he's being a kind of foolish old man to fall for her. But she is always kind of the girl of many faces).

It might be the MZB? My memory of that is very vague. (But what I remember about the Bear thing, that he's in one of the British tribes pre-Saxons and I think Merlin's childhood name has something to do with dogs? and they have the childhood names to keep them from being noticed by some nature god and there is something about a cave?)
