cease to amaze, stupefy, dumbfound (and any other synonym one can manage for all of the preceding descriptives) how there are some within the body of the Church who are actively pursuing Holy Orders and yet fail to realize that the Church has managed to survive, and in fact flourish, without their existence for some 2000 years!  Their arrogance is

This is something I have most recently learned myself, and has prompted a change in how I interact with others in the sometimes wretched blogosphere. I think that what causes much outrage, at least for recent converts, is coming across people who actively snub the Church, and generally pay disrespect to it.
I think that in well meaning cases generally, some called to Holy Orders feel a burden to give a defense of the faith. In the worst cases it is a battle of destructive rhetoric.

Our vanity convinces us that we actually have something worth contributing to the Church's defence without realizing that it does absolutely fine on its own, testifying to its truth by the lives of those who past and present reside within the Church.
