So first post in like half a year, and it's a rather trivial one.
As a rig site vac trucker, I have to jump into these tanks and shovel the mud into my hose. Usually they are lower and I just hop over the side, but this bigger one needs ladders and catwalks. Originally it was built with only one handrail on the outside; this is one more rail than I really need and makes it tougher to move my hose, but OK. Later on some bright spark of a welder figured if one rail is safe, two must be even more saferer. So now I must clamber over the rail, perch on the other side, and descend the ladder into the tank, all while clutching two shovels and hose. Remember: Safety First! I'm a big agile guy; I somehow survived the ordeal to write this post, but still. Silly.
Also, the tank floors were totally dented and beat to shit. This makes it tougher for me to clean and is also rather dangerous. If the floor failed under the weight of (heavy) invert mud, it would make an environmental catastrophe all over the lease that I would end up fixing. Total Oilfield Rental should be ashamed to charge full rate for this junk.
