Rain rain rain, rain, and rain. Long range forecast: Rain. Yea, on the west coast in the fall. Who'd a thunk it?
I made it down 'The Hill' to Bella Coola in the dry, but as soon as I got to the coast it got wet. Then I had two days to wait for the ferry. Bella Coola is kind of a hole, but there are fun things to do there. I could have gone hiking under the forest canopy, or checked out the salmon run and associated grizzlies, or at least done their little museum. But I ended up mostly just hiding in a hotel room, because I can be like that sometimes.
I actually am having more fun on the long ferry ride to Port Hardy. I've met two dirt bikers and a cyclist (of all things) on the same route. We got a guided tour of the decaying resort ghost town of Ocean Falls by 'Nearly Normal' Norm, and played a few games of pool in the more prosperous Shearwater. Good times.
