After all of the planning and the worrying and the hustle and the bustle around Kimberly's visit to Winnipeg since I first brought it up, how did everything work out?
We only recently played Carcassonne for the first time a few months ago with friends, and I really want to get it precisely because it IS decent for two players (you're the second person who has said so).
Finding a game that's decent for two players is always a challenge, which is why we initially concentrated on getting a card game, so this was a great discovery. :)
Interestingly, Carcassonne actually seems to have the opposite problem of most games meant for three or more players--even though the pieces allow for up to five players, I think the game would be over too quickly with that many people involved. (We figured out that each person would only get fourteen turns in that situation. :/)
It's good to know that four can play well--and that's a good point about the expansions, which I wasn't really aware of until I started looking up more information about Carcassonne online.
Having said that, kitchen table space might start becoming an issue... ;)
P.S. Sounds like you had a great visit with your friend!
And it's funny about the logos sticking in the maple leaf. I suspect legally they have to have slightly different logos for international branches of companies, so I'm sure the maple leaf is a no-brainer for their Canadian efforts....
I did! :D We always have a great time together, and the only part that sucks is that we're generally so geographically separated...
There are definitely branding advantages to the maple leaf incorporation, but I'm not sure about legal requirements because it's not a universal--as Kimberly pointed out when we got to Toys "R" Us and they didn't have, say, a maple leaf in the "R" instead of the star.
