A darker time, in every sense: The White House, January 2004
One year ago, when President Barack Obama took office,
I expressed my gratitude and sense of hopefulness at what I (and many others, I presume) perceived to be the beginnings of a significant change in direction for American history.
Today, when
airline restrictions are stricter than ever and
the unfortunate healthcare debate in the United States hinges on one Senate vote, it often feels like that sweeping momentum never got started--or that things have gotten even worse.
My vantage point is that of a non-resident, of course--and I'm sure most global citizens following the situation in the States have some opinion about it--but I'm also very interested to know the feelings of Americans who are reading this. How do you, who (at least theoretically) played a direct role in electing/attempting to defeat Barack Obama in the fight for his current office, feel about the job he's been doing thus far?
