Come and Dance on Our Floor

Those of you who've known me for a while will already be aware that I occasionally do a bit of film work, though I don't talk about it that much. Most of what gets filmed in Winnipeg is made for television or direct-to-video, so (even though I've plugged some things I've worked on in the past) I tend to think of it now as something I quietly do on ( Read more... )

Have you watched Alphas yet? It's... not good, which is a shame considering its pedigree. However, one of the things that continues to drive me up the wall is their continued insistence that the city they're filming in (which I presume is Vancouver since it's almost always Vancouver) is New York.

Apparently, Alphas is actually filmed in Toronto, but I hear what you're saying...and I'm sorry to hear that the quality isn't great. :/ I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Canadian filming locations are coastally analogous in general--Vancouver stands in for American cities west of the Rockies, Toronto for those in the east.

It's an interesting premise, but I don't think I could sit through two hours to get to the resolution. I see it as more suitable for a one-hour television ep, which would be about 43 minutes or so after commercials.

But wow, quite a cast! And right there with you on the restraint it would take not to keep saying mool-teeee-passssss! (And I noticed your Diva Dance music on the entry!)

When you put it that way, this does seem like it could be an episode of The X-Files pretty easily--sort of like "Small Potatoes" (about one guy who can change his own face), but in reverse.

The cast is pretty cool. :) Sadly for the Stargate fans, I wasn't around Michael Shanks...even though I was around his character. (That's the sort of movie this is.)

I can make as many references to The Fifth Element as I want now that I don't have to worry about it. ;) OTOH, perhaps I shouldn't have pointed to this entry on Twitter, where Milla Jovovich could see it...
