Taking a laptop to class has some drawbacks. Occasionally it tempts me to distraction. I'm not in the habit of writing fiction (you know, aside from all the compulsive lying), but one day, a while back, producing this seemed like more fun than paying attention to another Population Biology lecture.

My first thought was to say "Screw you" and read it now, so I opened it and started in -- now, I've already read whatever was at that URL a couple months ago, and I've no idea if this has updated or not.

So I'm a couple paragraphs in, and my brain goes "thunk" and I flip to something else. It will become dreadfully tempting tonight as I get ready to work. Damn you. Damn you to /heck/.

w00t. the only thing missing is time travel. It's much better than the stories I dreamed up about ~magic ~doors 'cause they were all narnia-style and the point was the destination not the transportation. I want to know what happens next.

Okay - since I read it, the stump has been driving me crazy. I keep trying to imagine how the stump opens. Does the entire stump kind of pull open? Kind of like in old Bugs Bunny cartoons, they grab the entire stump, it hinges open and they disappear down the hole.

Is the stump solid and only top very top portion of it hinges open to allow access? Or is the stump completely hollow and that itself is an entrance? If it is hollow and always open, wouldn't it be too hot to use?

I pictured it being solid and just hinging open at the top inch or so ... but that is sort of awkward. I think I'll have to rewrite that bit.
