In that particular case, I'm not so sure.

What lobbyist good could they be doing making this film against bullying impossible to show at schools?
(Yeah, I know there are some homophobic groups trying to impede efforts to curb bullying since they feel bullying gays is saintly, but I doubt they thought ahead to manipulate the MPAA.)

I see most lobbyists as a "kinder" "backroom" "long term investment" form of bully that makes small bribes here and there to reap larger bundles of extortion/blackmail money elsewhere. Continuing the bully trends in schools would just be job security for an industry. How would it help them immediately? They can easily demonize something most of the public will not see. It should keep parents further out of the realm of the school and closer to the message lobbyists want them to have. This counts for religious institutions as well. You need group think to control perception of any issue.

Catholic and Protestant priests have sat on the MPAA board in the past. You don't just randomly sit on some ratings board for your health. I would consider that "thinking ahead."

I probably haven't explained my thoughts very well but the MPAA, churches, and lobbyists have been active a long time. They don't just suddenly come out of the blue with something they thought up this morning.
