i just heard about all this nonsense today. how 93.1 went from "miami's pure dance channel" to "miami's pure rock channel". hilaaarious. anyway, metallica was probably some of the only decent music zeta played.
This topic came up on a radio board up here- something along the lines of how Miami, being one of the biggest radio markets in North America, was now about to be rock-less, in favour of urban. Instead of being the exception to the rule, there is some school of thought in the industry that this might become a trend..rock stations NOT making money anymore. I presume this to be the topic you are discussing?
The term "reggaeton" also came up in the postings. I've never heard that before..what, pray tell, is "reggaeton" and how does it relate to what I presume its mother.."reggae"..These kids with all their newfangled slang..;) Us geezers have a hard time keeping up!
Miami "rockerz" need not worry. The standard rock station simply moved, bumping out his token annoying techno cousin. And as for Raggaeton, I'm no authority in that area. But from what I gather, it's a sort of cross between Raggae and Latin Hip-hop. It's really just an excuse for one to get their "bump-n-grind" on at the dance halls.

"One of the island's (Puerto Rico) well-known DJs, Richie Rich, met me at the suburban studios of the most popular reggaeton radio station.
In almost messianic tones, he said reggaeton music had a growing legion of fans.
"Everything [we] do is reggaeton - everything. Reggaeton is like the inspiration for young people," he said.
I asked him what makes it different from mainstream hip-hop on the American mainland, and he broke into a laugh.
"They is a cold people, because it's a cold place. Here, it's hot, man, hot. We are a hot people," he replied."

"Outside one of the capital's top reggaeton nightclubs, two young women admit the music might be frowned upon by their parents.
"Some of the songs have words that are maybe not moralistic, but some talk about what life is really about," says one, with a toothy smile."

OK, now I understand. Forget the Da Vinci Code..all the answers to life lie within..reggaeton.
