...but aren't we a bag of Christmas cheer, really.

It would be easy to think of it as putting a negative view on the season. However, as something that occurs every year, the suicides are as much a part of the Christmas spirit as presents or nativity plays. Even if something is dictated by tradition and another by despair, both are matters of the holiday and how people respond to it!

After all, if something occurs every year at the same time, wouldn't that be considered a 'modern tradition'?

When everyone else is troubling themselves with putting up their trees, it's my intention to be hanging from one! That is my Christmas tradition, and the tradition for many others!

That's kind of a killjoy! You should be happy - this is the time of year you're supposed to spread good cheer!

This is true! The season is intended to bring merriment.

But for a person whose life is meaningless, what better gift could they give the ones who know them but the end of their existence? That could also bring merriment!

Don't talk like that! No one's life is meaningless!

It's a pleasant thing to think, but that can't be the case! There are many ineffective people who live lives that are devoid of meaning.

After all, in today's modern society, it's made impossible for a normal person to be 100% effective! Even a person who's financially productive can have no meaning socially, or vice versa!

That is my intention!

I even bought new rope to ensure that it wouldn't fail! It's under the tree.

It's best to plan ahead for these sorts of things.

Ah.

But only saying that a specific time of year should bring joy won't necessarily make it so. Under the circumstances, wouldn't it look like this is also the season for despair and misery?

Ah.

Why is there no season for despair and misery?

Ah. That might be so, but it can still be thought of as a Christmas celebration.
