A long, long time ago, before the Wikipedia and the IMDB, I used to watch movies, file them away in my brain, and let them stew in there for awhile. Now as soon as I finish (sometimes I don't even wait that long), I'm online, looking up the director's/writer's intents, the ideas behind the film, the trivia, the minutiae... Okay, so I'm not totally insane by thinking There Will Be Blood was totally insane? Because that was a seriously bad movie and yet there it was up for awards and that shit. I saw No Country for Old Men and thought it was shit too, but I seem to be in an even greater minority for that. Javier Bardem played decently - I don't know why they were raving up and down about him - and I like Tommy Lee Jones...but both of those movies just left me sitting there thinking

I'm sorry, am I supposed to be automatically impressed with this?

It felt like they were both so sure they'd be Oscar contenders the creators just dropped a lot of typical award fodder into a pot, turned on the stove, and left the house.

I only go on IMDB when I'm looking up actor/actress names or quotes, lol. I never read more than that.
