I can't say it bother me much. When you have something like Pokemon, which is pretty much devoid of any real artistic value to begin with, changing the movie versions of it isn't exactly a mortal sin. I mean, if anything about the Pokemon movies offended me, it wouldn't be that. I know you like them and everything, but let's face it - the sole purpose of Pokemon, since the day of its creation, was to make a shitload of money for the creators by luring eight-year-olds all over the world into watching the show and the movies, playing the videogame, and buying cards, toys, lunchboxes, shirts, and anything else the word "Pokemon" can possibly be stamped on to. THAT offends me. THAT is something that they should be ashamed of. Westernizing the movie is just a small part of the blatant commercialism there, so I can't say I'm morally outraged by it.

The games, good as they are, are not TV show friendly. Making a TV show out of Tetris would only be marginally harder than making one out of Pokemon. And yet they did it, and it's loyal to the game while somehow managing to be coherent at least 60% of the time. And on a side-note, the episode Thundershock Showdown happens to contain one of the greatest battles ever animated ( ... )
