I finally learned to put text on animation, but now lj is saying they're too big even though I saved it at 100x100 (I then saved it as 98x98 just in case, but still no good!)

Your file size is too big. LJ limits icons to a measly 40KB, and yours is nearly 60. You'd have to use the optimizer thing in Animation shop to compress it (there's prpbably a tutorial in the memories, it's been too long since I've used it so I don't remember much, sorry!) down to 40KB, but you'd probably lose some quality.
uh, your second icon didn't load the first time I commented, but I see it now, and that one is too big as well. It's 50KB. you can right-click the icon and go to properties to see the size :)
As has already been explained, LiveJournal limits icon 'size' to under 40kb. (You're safer not to actually make them 40kb, as I've had trouble uploading anything over 39kb...)
They don't clearly explain that size refers not only to the 100 x 100 pixel size -- but also to the file size! (grr) That's LJ for you! (smile)
Good job -- I'm glad you understand how to add your text to animation now! (Did my tutorial help at all?)
Awww, if you don't mind me asking, where did you find such cute graphics for your icons? =^..^=
...and to make it smaller... I don't know much about icon making, but from what I do know you can always remove frames from the gif or reduce the clarity...
