animation question

Hey Guys,

I'm working on an animated icon right now, and I'm encountering some problems getting it below LJ's file limit. I only have 19 frames, no crazy fades or anything like that, but even when I drop the optimized quality I can't get it below 100kb, let alone the 50kb limit! I am using JASC Animaiton shop, of course. Any suggestions?

The file size of an animation depends on the detail of the images as well. So if there nineteen frames differ a lot in terms of the subject and the amount of colours, then the file size will be high. If you could upload the animated icon as it is now, we'd have a better idea of what's making the file-size so large and how you can possibly overcome it.

As Katie katiefoolery said, there are a number of aspects as to what makes an animation 'large' or not...

I often try to limit an animation to 8 frames or less, to keep it under 40kb (believe it or not).

Can you try using 'Cull Animation' (located under Animation)? Sometimes you won't lose much if you cull every third or fourth frame...

I wish LJ would raise the size to 50kb, but I doubt that's going to happen! (sigh)

Remember to keep it under 40kb -- and not at 40. I've found that LJ will still call it 'too large,' even when you're at 40kb...

Sorry I can't be more help -- but believe me when I say I feel your pain! (Been there so many times...)
