Windows XP can be a pain sometimes, but it beats Vista all to hell. (smile)
(An aside: I recently had to deal with Vista, and literally came running back with open arms to Windows XP...)
Have you used all the various
fixes
that have been shared here, or no? I'd suggest you start with those...
What font are you talking about, by the way?
Generally speaking, if we're talking about True Type fonts, you should be fine. You might want to see
these entries
related to fonts, too.
I'm unsure if you know how to use our community
MEMORIES
and/or
TAGS
, but do check the links...
Let me know if any of that helps, will you? If not, I might have some additional suggestions.
Oh! By the way, this sort of question is just fine for this community. And I appreciate that your subject line reflects your question! (Thanks.)

In all honestly, I tried searching the memories, but I had absolutely no idea where I should've started looking.
The font in question is the Jane Austen font, which I got from dafont a few weeks ago.
I have to go to work now, but I'll try the fixes when I get home this afternoon. Thanks so much for helping! I greatly appreciate it. :D

Thank you so much!
ps. am memory'ing this just in case it happens again, I won't need to drive myself insane searching for the fixes. :D

I'm delighted to hear that the fixes worked for you.
Happily, they've saved my backside many times, too. (smile)
