Oh my god what a week.
crystalcleared and
reinadecopas - feel free to append this post with anything I may have forgotten to mention. It was a full week.
Ocracoke was, as always, full of delicious seafood and warm sand and glorious skies and trick kites and cool water and BUUUUUUHDS. Much time was spent lazing about in a wide bed (which got progressively more sandy throughout the week), lazing about on a towel in the sun, and lazing about on a pillowy couch watching the World Cup (GERMANY FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEAH). Victorian Bill Murray fought Cthulhu FOR SCIENCE. The child next door listened with his ear to the wall while we talked about gay owls in Alabama. We found that we can't all be Nyarlathotep. Thor lost a bet. Doumeki may or may not have had FORBIDDEN OWL TRYSTS. A choir of bees sang the neighbor's orgasms to completion. The Traveling Vuvuzela Orchestra harmonized horribly at one in the morning. And Lady Gaga did not write a song about the Ecstasy of Saint Theresa.
Again and again, I am amazed at how I do not grow out of giggling about stupid fandom-related shit in the wee hours of the morning. There was a point where this worried me; but now I'm just grateful I got to do it in person again before I move to Flatland. Beach trips had better not stop, you guys. Seriously. I will be back and we will go back to some coast and stay up all night making terrible puns in the name of the Norse god Rijmshotr, and God willing, we will never stop finding Engrish way too damn funny, and something-not-God willing, we will get to make more eldritch horrors in the sand.
Yeah, when sand!Cthulhu pics get posted, I will be sure to provide. Actually, that might have been the most glorious thing we did.
....Though driving a Jeep over the sand and nearly killing Krystal oh god was also glorious, actually, and so was playing Marco Polo Cthulhu Fhtagn in the pool, and so was rewatching the Hunchback of Notre Dame at midnight, and so was that lightning storm... goddamn. This week was too damn good.
Home again now. It was nice to sleep in my bed and go to work this morning. My copy of The Worldly Philosophers arrived from OU, and a beautiful student prayerbook from my pastor, which were both nice to find on my bed. I have to send my medical information to OU this week, and coordinate a church trip for the Rancho and schedule a cello lesson and give a few cello lessons, too, actually. In two weeks I'll have my wisdom teeth out, and shortly before that I will (here's hoping) go to All-Campus down in Valdosta. Katkat! I must work out car kinks regarding Savannah now that my brother is employed, but! Start looking for dates/hotels! Let's go clubbing while I can still get to a town that has clubs!
Why can't life just be summer?
Oh, and. Song of the Week: Heard this on NPR something like two years ago and couldn't ever find it afterward. Heard it again on the ride back! FUCK YEAH.

....But then again, we sang this so goddamn much, it might actually be the Song of the Week:

sidenote: somebody in the comments called her Ms. Gaga. I don't know why this made me smile so much.
.....BUT THEN AGAIN, R'lyeh is beautiful this time of year, and this song did not leave my head for more than three minutes at a time in seven days, and there was that red moon:

sidenote: "is he bigger than godzilla or cloverfield?" the sheer number of people who responded to this seriously made me smile even more than Ms. Gaga.
