In Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE, a member of the undead stays completely submerged underwater long enough for a fight to the death with a shark. Also, in Land of the Dead, the dead cross underwater to the city. So it goes without saying that breathing has been thrown out the window.

Man that shark fight was cool.

Can a zombie be involved in a "fight to the death"? Because, It seems it would have already lost.

Man, I really, really want to see that movie. I borrowed it for the longest time and never watched it.

Hell, I just say Romero's original trilogy last week.

I don't know the answer to any of these questions, by the way. But I like me some zombies.

It seems to me the only rational thing to explain zombies is that their viral, because they can make you one if you're bitten. With that assumption, it's hard to believe that a virus can truly animate dead tissue, like so many movies have (with long dead corpses busting from the grave). It just doesn't seem logical. It's seem more rational that those infected are put into a coma-like state, where most of their vital organs begin to rot and their blood coagulates and they slowly start breaking down and really "dieing". Before death by decay happens though, with what little electricity that burns in their damaged minds, they spring up with a primal hunger for blood. I have never seen a satisfied zombie after a kill, they always want more, and with their obvious decay happening, I'm hard pressed to think they can actually metabolize food. This is made apparent by their stride. Although newer movies tend to have more fast footed undead, it seems to me with all the cerebial damage and decay, their shuffling is what I'd expect from a real ( ... )
