What happens in vegas....

Jun 30, 2007 00:05

as promised, here is the gist of my amazing trip to las vegas, nevada. i'll try not to be too long-winded or boring. i'll try...

friday(afternoon): cuddlebunni3, blueflamedfire, and i arrived at the westin casuarina hotel, which is right off the strip and upon dropping off our bags in our rooms, went in search of food because we were all starving (no meal on the plane, just snacks :0P). as soon as we started walking toward the strip, i began to realize that all the nonsense i heard about "dry heat" and it not being so bad, was a crock. i don't care if it's dry heat or humid heat, hot is fuckin hot! it's just that we were frying instead of boiling. it didn't go below 100 degrees the whole time we were there. and i'm soo not exaggerating...anyways, we decided on the buffet at imperial palace. the food was pretty good but the dessert was a little disappointing. but hey, it was cheap. then we just started walking through each casino on the strip (to take advantage of the a/c) so we could check out all the hotels and the different attractions. i was being all touristy and took lotsa pictures and "ooo'ed" and "aaah'ed" a lot. what? it was my first time in vegas! we hit caesar's palace (including fao schwartz), the mgm grand, and a few other hotel/casinos.

once we were sufficiently exhausted and overheated from walking around in the 100 degree heat, we went back to the hotel. grendelgongon arrived around 11pm that night and we...umm...did some catching up ;0) all-in-all, good first day.

saturday: grendelgongon and i got up at a reasonable hour (around 11am) and decided to take a dip in the pool before check out. the pool was great, i got to break-in my new two-piece swimsuit, and we got to see *nice* boobies. so great morning.

after the pool, we gathered our things and checked out. the four of us were headed to the hilton grand vacations club, where we would be staying for the rest of our trip. cuddlebunni3's mom rox :0)

here is what just part of the room looked like:

pretty sweet, huh?

the room (more like suite) was complete with full kitchen, washer and dryer, master bedroom and guest bedroom, pull-out sofa in the living room, tv in each room, dvd player, dish washer, coffee maker, and a jacuzzi:

so once we got settled in some, it was time to eat. we went to a nearby casino where we heard the food was pretty good and had a very affordable and delicious brunch. we were not disappointed.

we also had $1 margaritas from the same casino and they were delicious. :0)

more walking around, we made it to the mgm grand and saw the baby lion show and gambled a little. then we grabbed an early dinner at the rainforest cafe, complete with animatronic animals that came to life every 10 minutes and periodic "thunderstorms". it was actually a really cute place.

then we decided to go to the fremont street experience (the old strip). we took the monorail to the sahara and then caught the 108 bus which dropped us of right there. fremont street was totally old-school vegas, with it's seedy casinos and gathering of local folks. we listened to some music performed by a cover band and then walked around for a couple hours. we also hit the local walgreens as all of us had been looking for a drugstore since we arrived. once we were done w/ the fremont street experience, it was around midnight, and so we decided to call it a night.

sunday: i woke up again at a reasonable hour and blueflamedfire and i decided to hit the pool and this one was also really great. we scoped a couple cuties and just cooled off. cuddlebunni3 was already in the pool when we got there. so we all played around in the pool for a little bit and then decided to get in the hot tub. that was niiiice....once we were all successfully wrinkled, we decided to go inside and figure out food. it was decided that we should order pizza. so we did. and it was good. while we munched, we watched "the opposite of sex" in the living room and just chilled for a bit.

that night, grendelgongon bought us tickets to see a show called "bite" at the stratosphere. the show started at 10:30pm but we decided to go an hour or so earlier so we could look around the hotel.
while we were waiting for grendelgongon to arrive with our tickets, we scoped out the hottie boys and chatted. then we went in to see the show. it was awesome! "bite" is essentially a topless vampire burlesque show set to classic rock music. sounds great, doesn't it? it was. even though most of the girls were spinners, they were still hot and we all know how i have a thing for vampires, hehe ;0) when the show was over, we got to get our pictures taken w/ the "bite" girls. my favorite was ice and even though she was a spinner, i really loved the way she moved. so i opted to get my picture taken w/ her:

have i mentioned how much i ♥ vampires? ;0)

monday: we discovered the first or second day that there was a pass we could get that could get us access to all the major attractions and the 3 day pass seemed to be perfect for us, so we decided that monday was the day we would get it. i don't remember everything we did that morning but i do think that was the day that two of us got married at caesar's palace (i'll let you draw your own conclusions on that one, hehe). around late afternoon, we went to planet hollywood to pick up our passes and then ate some appetizers and had some drinks at the bar there (our passes gave us $10 per day at the planet hollywood bar/restaurant and the souvenir shop). while at the bar, we discussed what we wanted to do and see w/ our passes. we decided to see all we could see that night on the strip, then rent a car the next morning and drive to the grand canyon, stopping at the hoover dam and lake mead on the way. the passes included the grand canyon tour, the hoover dam tour, and pretty much every other attraction in vegas. that night we went to new york, new york and rode the roller coaster (amazing), went to the luxor and saw the king tut experience (an exact replica of king tut's tomb; pretty cool) and the search for the obelisk, a 3D experience simulator type ride (kinda lame, but it was included in the pass so no biggie). by the time we were finished w/ that, we were about done for the night so we headed back to the hotel, w/ plans to hit the road early the next morning....

tuesday: we woke up at around 8am and headed to budget to rent our car. unfortunately, it took an hour just to rent a car so we ended up leaving a little later than we wanted to. we stopped at von's supermarket to pick up food to take w/ us on our trip and then headed off to the grand canyon.

the first sight we hit was lake mead and we stopped for about 20 minutes or so to feed the mutant fish and take some pictures. then we got back on the road and hit the hoover dam next. we again stopped and took some pics, then headed on to the grand canyon west, home of the hualapai indian tribe. our tour included a ride to the skywalk (which we decided probly wouldn't be worth it), and an "authentic indian buffet" which consisted of barbecued chicken, pulled beef, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and corn bread. hmmm...anyways, we walked around the canyon taking pictures and it was truly an awe-inspiring experience. i felt so insignificant standing in the face of this beautifully gargantuan natural wonder. i was so glad i finally got to see it. when we were done taking pictures and taking in the canyon, we got back in the car and stopped at the hoover dam again, this time just before night fall, and took some really cool nighttime pics.

by the time we got back to the hotel, it was around 10pm and we were all exhausted so we promptly crashed. as i went to sleep that night, i began to realize that the next day was my last day in vegas....

wednesday: cuddlebunni3 and grendelgongon woke up early to return the car while blueflamedfire and i packed our things and watched videos until they got back. once they were back and we were all packed, we checked out of the hilton grand vacations club, checked our luggage w/ the hotel and ventured out to the strip for our last day in vegas. everybody wanted to see the star trek experience (i just went along for the ride, as star trek isn't really my thing) so we headed to the hilton to experience star trek. it was actually pretty cool. i rode one of the rides and it was really awesome. then while the others were taking the actual tour, i decided to get some gambling in on the penny slots. i pretty much broke even, which is nice. once they were all done, grendelgongon had to go meet his sweetie so the remaining three of us gambled a little more, had drinks and appetizers at quark's bar and restaurant, grabbed some souvenirs, and then headed off to meet cuddlebunni3's big sister at the mgm grand. we grabbed a bite to eat at the rainforest cafe again and chatted. she was really cool and i'm glad i got to meet her.

we were done eating and said goodbye to the sister and realized we had about 2 hours left before we had to be back at the hotel to get our stuff and head for the airport. so we decided to check out treasure island. we were going to see the show outside but it was cancelled because of wind and we didn't have time to wait for the next show. i expressed interest in seeing the venetian before we left so we did and it was absolutely beautiful. we did the gondola ride and really lucked out as our gondolier was a really hot chick named pia, who was really sweet and cool. she also had an aMAZing singing voice that gave me a chills. this is pia:

how hot is she?? i know...

after the gondola, we walked around in the venetian a bit and got to see the indoor canals, which were sooo cool. then it was time to head back to the hotel to gather our things and head for the airport. *sigh* i soo didn't wanna leave but all good things must come to an end at some point, i suppose. we had a relatively uneventful flight back and i got less than an hr of sleep on the plane, but we made it back safe and sound.

so that's it! my trip to vegas! hope i wasn't too long-winded or boring.

oh and here are the rest of the pics if you're interested
