Posty McPosty today....

One more.  Since I'm heading home to do a BIG CLEAN, I've decided I'm pretty tired of the old broom/dustpan/cloth mop routine.

Thinking it's time to join the 21st century in the way of cleaning utensils, but not sure if any of them are actually worth it.

I've got my eye on the Swiffer Sweepervac to replace the broom, and maybe the Wet Jet to ( Read more... )

The swiffer wet jet works, but it's annoying to me you have to buy 2 different refill products: the solution and the swiffer sheets.

The Sweepervac works really well, but the battery life is crap--the one I had I got like five years ago, so they may have improved that by now. But as long as I didn't need to use it for more than a few minutes at a time, it was aces.

I just got a Wet Jet and am happy with it so far, though I've looked up how to refill the bottle, because I hate the scent of the solution, and it's crazy expensive, imo.

That Hoover looks more vacuum-like than, well, whatever the sweepervac is. Is it good on hard floors? Like, in place of sweeping I mean?

It is just a vacuum, but it has a switch to turn off the beater bar for hard floors, and it's super lightweight, so that's all I use for getting up dirt and crap off the floors now. The hose disconnects real easy to get into the corners and under furniture and shit.

Can't speak to the sweepervac but my experience was that the basic swiffer sucked unless the floor wasn't that dirty to begin with. Plus it felt wasteful to be producing the trash it does.

For cleaning floors I just went back to knees rags and hot soapy water. But since I only wash the floors in years that are prime numbers, it doesn't come up that often.

My current method of mopping also involves me on my knees with a big old towel and Murphy's soap and water. I actually rarely do use the mop.

I'm getting kind of tired of the on my hands and knees scrubbing thing. Even if Vince enjoys watching me do it.

I don't use either but I highly recommend the Swiffer Duster. That thing is the bomb!

I've used the Wet Jet & Sweeper and I think it picks up dust easier than a real mop but doesn't clean as well. I'd say it's more like Swiffer frequently to prevent dust from turning into dirt, and mop occasionally when it's actually dirty. Which generally turns into just occasionally mopping for me.

Basically swiffer feels like squirting simple green at the floor than wiping with a diaper or maxi pad. It works, but it's not really good at deep cleaning. Similar to the Roomba or Scooba(which works well but you replace cleaning the floor with cleaning the brush) but with more work involved.
