I went to see a performance of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte on Thursday evening. Papageno was superb, Tamino was slightly lacking in impact; Pamina was brilliant, and the Queen herself was acceptable. Sarastro had plenty of basso but only a bit of profundo. I can't say that I came away disappointed, however. I would gladly see the same company ( Read more... )

Then it's the clever ones, the handsome ones, the absolutely adorable ones. Choose your descriptor. I'm sure we could make you appear just as fearsome if not more so, for you wield the divine paperwork and you are so much more attentive to who has fulfilled their duty than myself.
