I watched the Oscars, but I don't have a lot to say about it. The dresses were pretty, and I wish women would go back to red lipstick. That weird pink/gray color is unflattering.

Jamie Foxx crying makes me cry too.

Guess I need to boycott "Million Dollar Baby" now. I hate overhyped films that I never felt the desire to see in the first place.

Oh, oh, oh, thanks for the Stomp and Stammer! I keep meaning to email you, but I keep forgetting.

I want a Landmark mug. Does it have a Landmark logo on it?

i missed the big award handouts last night--i had to wake up at 4:15 this morning to get to work by 5, so i called it a night around 11, right after the remembrance part...

i like red lipstick too, but scarlett johannsen looked a little too much like the joker to me--maybe it was just the offset of a BLACK corset, WHITE skin and the pulled up blonde hair, but her mouth seemed to leave a smudge on my monitor...

oh, no problem about the S&S, sorry it took so long to get out to you in the first place--which reminds me, i keep forgetting to email them to take me off the staff, since i don't think i'll ever write for them again...

yes, there's a landmark logo on the mug so its all stylin' and such--plus the self-serve coffee means that i never have to wait in a line anymore! i plan on fully abusing this wonderful new service as much as i can--maybe i'll finally see bad education this week after all...

some of those sublime frequencies discs are on their way to from Digitalis. I can't wait. They sent him one of everything to review, so I'm getting a DVD and a CD. Not sure which one.

as far as the cds go, you can't go wrong with any of 'em--i've only seen one of the dvds (isan: folk and pop music of northeast thailand, which is good stuff) so if you get a different one report please!

Joanna Newsom's TV debut was lovely. Sorry you had to miss it. I think I taped over it last night, when I was recording the Oscars. Hopefully it will show up someplace again.

But I was able to zip through the Oscars by taping it - just zapped through an hour of ads and boring stuff. I noted the oddness of Russ Meyer's resume as well.

"Born into Brothels" is amazing. See it.

Scrabble is even more amazing. Why have a life when you can play Scrabble? Plus, you can listen to music while you are playing, which pretty much covers all that is needed for a stay on Earth, except nachos and dogs, and there is no reason why they can't be around during Scrabble as well.

i didn't know this, but apparently the atlanta affiliate of abc has blocked jimmy kimmel's show and apparently reruns entertainment tonight during that slot--gotta love the bible belt...

i've always been into board games, but scrabble's sat near the back of the closet for awhile because of the wife--she speaks english fluently, but considering its not her native tongue there's a lot of meaningless little words that she's unaware of, so the cards are usually stacked against her from the start--but she's taking it on as a challenge, & she's been insisting to play daily for the past week or so--no complaints here...and the musical factor plays a big part in the enjoyment of it, like you say--when the mind is scrambling to make sense of how to arrange your tiles, the music seems to be able to seep in that much more...

yeah, it should be a good time--i've read some additional unconfirmed people will be coming along as well, such as wooden wand & the vanishing voice, burning star core, etc...some of these people will be playing asheville the same weekend, just friday and saturday (although charalambides is atlanta-only)...

is your reason for not coming to atlanta the drive, or do you have specific problems with atlanta? personally i like the athens showgoing experiences more than atlanta myself, although 90% of the gigs i go to at the 40 watt end up with the crowd outnoising the band...

sorry to take so long to respond to yr question. mainly, it's the drive, also i don't really like big cities (except st. louis, but that's not that big, by my standards). i know what you mean about the 40 watt.
