fantastic! my partner has an aunt that lives in paris, and we hope to go visit after she gets her green card. (i'm told it's a decent city for record shopping, too!) . i wouldn't mind said details.
if you ever do go, get in touch with me! i've got a list of record shops - i wasn't able to explore them though due to the unforeseen illness - i only ended up going to the fnac (a major european retail outlet) on the champs-elysees, but i felt so much like shit that i couldn't even wade through all of the ocora cds they had...
no, don't get worried, this isn't a scene from a french porno film, its the eiffel tower taken from directly underneath the shaft...Yeah, it may not be porno, but you said SHAFT! :D

paris summed up quickly - its true that i got really really sick, but on the other hand i hitchhiked, one of the things i never thought i'd do in my life, so that was pretty great...and sickness aside we went to about 10 different museums - new years was spent on a wintery bridge, seeing the eiffel tower lit up to our left, fireworks emanating from the place de la concorde to our right, the bells of notre dame behind us, the seine flowing underneath us, and shouts of "bon annee!" from everywhere inbetween

Well, best food at a museum is saying something, I guess. I remember when the High was new, and I used to go to the Charter Member parties, food everywhere! Those were the days.
thank you kind sir, i've been waiting to post that picture for ages but it was our amelie comments and the subsequent nostalgia that finally got me to do it!
It looks like sum'tin outta a movie. Tres gorgeous. I hope to get to Paris at some point, hopefully while I'm still able to swallow so I can enjoy the brie.
you and me both, since we got sick too soon to eat any cheese over there - maybe in providence we can become the "swift boat veterans for terrastock 7 in paris" foundation!
Did you find it weird that entree in France refers to the first course (its literal meaning, which I think is used everywhere outside of the US/Canada, even in Central America)? Weird also that US franchises here like Sizzler, TGI Fridays and Chilis use the non-US meanings... (i.e. entree for first course)... I haven't been able to find on google the origins of that difference.
that's interesting - i didn't notice that, but then again 95% of what we ended up eating came from street vendors hawking panini or falafels - i've got to go back one day, and i'm not going to eat in montmartre when i do...
