actually, that's how she sleeps with us too - we have a bassinet (well, its actually the graco pack & play, not the one in the link but one similar) and she generally goes to sleep, usually right after feeding, in the wife's arms - after we feel her weight shift, we then act as quick as we can to get her into the bassinet and secure the blanket down on her before she wakes - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...

thanks for the link, will investigate further...

she broke out in a big smile and was perfect all day long! she got a tiny bit fussy on going to bed

Kids remain fussy about going to bed well into their teens. The way in which they express it just changes. ^_^

Seriously though, mom called it "fighting sleep", but they will still have fits about going to bed up into the 2s and 3s, iirc.

yeah, it can get ugly to go through but i know its only natural - i guess that when you're really young or really old you never know if you're gonna wake up...

oh, she also started grabbing at her bib yesterday - i guess thats somewhat related to the hair-grabbing stuff you were talking about the other night...

Good on you for keeping up with the journal! I still have to get started on that. Again I'm going for the Year of the Dog excuse. Everything is going to start with the Year of the Dog. I have tried to limit my purchasing, especially of music, but I slipped over the weekend and on Monday. Still, I'm not buying every single CD-r limited to 15 copies that I get an email about.

Babies in restaurants aren't so bad. Babies in movie theaters however are a big no-no. That is why babies are so cute, so people will want to babysit them to give the parents a night out. In Seattle, maybe elsewhere too, there are Landmark theaters (and possibly others) that have screaming rooms so parents can watch a movie with their wee ones. Do you have those?

Two year olds however should never be allowed in restaurants, so eat up now while you can. Two year olds should never be allowed outside of the house. The good news is that phase passes in just over a decade. Start storing up now so you don't have to leave the house to get things.

hey, good on you too! good on us all!

you've temporarily blown my mind with this screaming room talk - i never knew such a concept existed, and it very well may not here in the a-town, but we do have a landmark theater...poodleface, are you reading this far?

crying babies aren't as much of a concern in japan from what i understand (apparently babies are practically tied to the mother from birth through the first several months & this quiets them), so i had to break the no-movies rule to S - not so easy as i've documented numerous times...she came in today with an "entertainment weekly", shocked that she hadn't heard of a good percentage of the films in the globes/oscars running - she said "have you heard of a movie called something like brokeback mountain? that sounds like something i'd like" - its so weird for both of us to be so out of it currently - if it wasn't for these complimentary subscriptions to EW that we keep getting (and lj friends, for me), the latter half of 2005 would be completely lost for me ( ... )

Screaming rooms, or cry rooms, may be just a Seattle thing. I hadn't heard of them until I moved here, but they have been here for over a decade or two. They are a few seats in the back of the theater surrounded by a wall and glass - a little private booth. Great idea I think. I see Atlanta has ONE landmark theater (where Crouching Cowboy, Hidden Dick...I mean, Brokeback Mountain...and I stole that line but it always makes me laugh) is playing. I want you two to go see it. No word on if that theater has a crying or screaming room. I tried to do a Google search, but so far no luck. We are just so civilized in Seattle. That is, unless you are looking for a burrito or soul music.

I've been meaning to email you about all things Terrastock and now that Booh has fallen asleep and I have two minutes I'm EXHAUSTED and just can't do it. URGH...soon. I swear. Soon.

Some theater chains in larger cities have something called Mommy Matinee, at which children are welcome, but attending presumes you don't have an actual job.

I like Netflix a lot. With DVDs coming out so soon after a movie leaves the theaters, you can be only a few months behind instead of whole years. ;)

Hey, I do the journal thing too, every day. I write about the day before, not how much I spent, though I used to keep tabs of that too, and finally had to stop because I was noting every penny and that's just crazy. I always note what I ate and what I watched on TV, if anything, general impressions of each day. It's a ritualistic habit.

I owe you an email note! :)

i started keeping track of myself in 2001, but curiously enough i stopped being consistent in my journals after i got married & then in 2003 i abandoned my money track when we left for NYC - i want to see what my spending looks like now versus 2001, the last year of my crazy bachelorhood...

and yeah, email me! i hope i didn't confuse you too much with that last message, going on and on about that exact location...
