Here's a post that shows you some of the food I ate in Japan. This was spurred on by several people at work (the kind who have probably experienced Japanese cuisine from a "hibachi" chef hurling shrimp towards their open mouth, if even that) asking me "So what do people eat in Japan?" your pictures remind me of the friends that have visited korea so far. all of them have a handy camera and we always end up taking a picture of the meal before partaking in it. i never thought korea cuisine was that fascinating (in all honesty a well done chinese meal is probably the prettiest since they value presentation just as much as the french).
mos burger! they are big enough that they have expanded to many parts of asia. i used to eat there semi-regularly when i lived in S'pore. it was the most expensive fast food place but also the best tasting and i've had that rice burger you had as well. tasty but kind of a mess to eat, no?
as much as i enjoy your posts about japan, every one of them makes me guilty for not posting about my korean experience thus far. i even have notes. urgh. alas, my apathy exceeds my guilt.

I notice you said that crab was unusual in Japan. I didn't realise that. On my one visit, my hosts (I don't know if you know Paul & Keiko via the APA?) took me to a crab restaurant, where they served baked crab, roasted crab, boiled crab, crab sashimi, crab roe, raw crab brains (ugh) and probably other crab dishes too, along with other things such as frozen salmon. It was good!
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. We usually forget all about ours until a card arrives from a dutiful relative!

That giant miso soup, what's the difference between that and a big bowl of ramen or soba?
