With the hopeful exception of ikahana, most of you probably didn't notice that I tried to make a comeback into the world of livejournal last night. Fueled by St. Bernardus and, uh, little else, I started a somewhat well-intentioned post that descended into gibberish by the end, and in a moment of clarity I decided to delete everything I wrote last night ( ( Read more... )

Testing...testing...

Okay, so I can post a comment? I haven't been banned from your journal? Sorry about my itsy paranoia attack last night. Around three in the morning, I put two and two together and figured out I probably couldn't post my comment because you had just deleted your post, and having deleted a post that was not beer-fueled but something I still decided was unwise to post a week or two ago, I know what that is all about. Although, really - it was a fine post you had up.

Now here is a bit of life overlapping. After reading your post, I went downstairs and put on the TV, and what was on was The Daily Show from the night before. We used to watch it every night, but I haven't seen it in several months. And Tom Waits was the guest! Tom Waits! As featured in your post and mine. THEN, the Colbert Report comes on and they do a whole segment on Colbert County, specifically Tuscumbia - and SPECIFICALLY - THE HELEN KELLER HOUSE/MUSEUM!

(It ended with the reporter asking the tour guide - is it true Helen Keller fell ( ... )

Tom Waits & Helen Keller in one 30-minute program? If they had thrown in the new Moomin comic collection in there also, I'd really start wondering if there's some Patriot Act tapping going on around here. And I thought Betsy Spangler would be the worst of my worries ( ... )

wow! that is one cool road trip!

[and hey, Keller was one of my idols/interests as a kid, too. Keller and Louis Braille. I had some really old books about them that I used to read and re-read. I even learned some Braille at the time because I thought it was SO COOL. ]

I honestly had thought that we had exhausted all road trip possibilities around here, but I guess there's always someplace new. Its just surprising that it took this long to find out about it. Not like I haven't handled 500 Alabama quarters in the past few years and not gotten the clue...

S bought a Keller biography so I intend on finally educating myself. Better late than never...

ah, about 3 seconds after writing it I thought "what an obnoxious comment that was" because it made it sound (to me) like I was trashing the CD and as I was deleting everything else I had written for the evening I thought "why not make it a clean sweep?"

If I do write again soon, it will probably contain some record reviews since I've bought a frightening amount in the last couple of weeks, and my thoughts on the Liverpudlians' latest will be found therein...
