An ancient text guide of sorts

Jan 30, 2021 13:10

DISCLAIMER: I wrote this thing in 2016 (I think?) then disappeared from the face of the earth and forgot all about it until last week I clicked on POST NEW ENTRY and lj asked me if I wanted to restore my last draft. I did out of curiosity, and there it was, this text guide of sorts, in all its ancient glory ( Read more... )

I'm really glad you decided to post it after all! I'll read it in deph when I have a little time, but overall it looks gorgeous. Text is still something very difficult to nail to me, so any help is apreciated.
Also, just wanted to say that this icon was made by me, not shameless666 although I feel honored :)

OMG, I'm sorry! I must have saved it with the wrong username back then! Fixed it, thanks for pointing that out!

This is awesome, thanks for sharing your tips and text inspirations! ♥ That text texture trick is SUPER cool, and so is using book covers as inspiration.

It's so cool that you're able to start without a text in mind and then add it later if you see that the icon needs it. I can never do that, I have to already have the text in mind when I start so that I know to keep space for it, and also it's hard to come up with text in general (not the arrangement but moreso the actual words); my method is usually just to rewatch an episode of a show I like and take notes while I'm watching, specifically writing down quoes and other text ideas, but that's obviously a very time-consuming way to do text so I wish I had your ability to just come up with it on the fly!

Your "just ok" text icons all look 100% awesome to me so idk what you're talking about :P

Aaannd now that you shared your font tag I'll probably go down the font hoarding rabbit hole again, as if it didn't already take forever for PS to load all my fonts... :D

Aw, thanks, I'm so glad you liked the text texture trick! *-*

... honestly, the way you work with text makes much more sense than mine?
Text is not something I work with as much as something I find myself enduring every once in a while xD
I always think about rewatching the episode/movie to find a fitting quote, but then I'm way too lazy for that so I usually just google "show/movie quotes" and make do with the few I find online. :>

Haha, tell me about it, my PS takes AGES to load because of all the fonts I hoarded and then never used xD
