Really, I never did, but I'm going friends-only. Elana, that means you should let me know if you still want to read my lj - I'll set up an account for you if you want. I made a post a week or two ago about medical bloggers getting in hot water over things they'd blogged about. That and the upcoming applying-to-residencies process got me thinking about what exactly I did or didn't want out there on the internet. I had some pretty personal stuff out there, and while I am glad that it was public at the time, I don't think that some of it should necessarily still be so. Not having the time to go back through the 1600+ public entries in my entire lj, the most prudent thing to do seemed to be to f-lock the whole thing. Besides, as far as I'm aware, I don't have any non-f-list readers any more, aside from Elana. (And the medical blogger, 10/10, who I linked the other day. But I'm pretty sure that was a drive-by 'thanks for the mention" read.)

I probably sound paranoid, but I think it's a good idea... I know someone who got fired from her teaching job because of LJ. Admittedly, she'd been posting from school, but...she wouldn't have been fired if they couldn't read the postings. It's not that you have anything really crazy up here, but you shouldn't have to write protectively--you should be able to write what you want. :-)
