The overhead PA was paging Dr. Smythe to Post-Op and where was Dr. Yao? Everything about a hospital seemed to be white and sterile, even the air smelled like it had been scrubbed with alcohol disinfectant just to be safe

Shawn has to look at the bright side of the picture.
Yeah, his favourite -and only- cousin had been shot and her semi-ghost? How do you call the ghost of someone that's been half dead for a day? He's going to need to rewatch "The Princess Bride"... Okay, so "partial ghost"? Co-ghost? Co-ghost is good for now. Jackie's co-ghost self has been haunting him all day.
At least the Psych Ward is close enough. And nurse Betty, who's currently holding his hand as he waits for his best friend is sweet and understanding enough. And has great legs, no matter if she hides them under those party-pooper green pants.
Jackie would approve of the co-ghost term if she knew what Shawn was thinking. Actually, no, she really didn't want to know what Shawn was thinking with him being hand in hand with some nurse. *pffft* "She's only that close because you've got a family member here, you know that right?" Popping Shawn's balloons, always fun.
That and she's trying not to look at herself all hooked up to ten million tube things.
He jumps again, surprised by Jackie's unexpected voice at an unexpected closeness as unexpected as hearing your currently tubed up cousin is. Which is a hell of a lot unexpectedness no matter if you've already spoken to her co-ghost or not.
He gives nurse Betty a reassuring smile and mutters some excuses of the psychic kind and how he is afraid he can't keep his job separated from his personal life even in this sort of situation.
He then turns his head to his right, where Jackie's voice just came from and in less than a blink of his eyes, a micro-second or however Gus calls them, he thinks he sees her figure sitting next to him.
Weeeeird (all things considered).
Shawn shakes his head and the weird feeling off. "You seriously need to stop doing the surprisive co-ghost talk thing."
She rolls her eyes, not realizing he can kind of see her now. "Great, so I should stay quiet and invisible...sorry, it's just a bit boring here plus hospitals are scary....and cold, aren't you cold?" She rubs one arm with her hand as if trying to warm up.
