Did you read the PayPal site? Especially the pages in the Buyers column? You sign up and get a PayPal account which uses one of your bank accounts. So when you pay for something via PayPal, it sorta takes the money out of your account and sends it to the person you want to pay. That person must have an email address.

It's free to sign up to send money. I think if you want to use it in a business, to have people send money to you that you have to pay.

I am sure that someone who knows more about it can explain it better, but I have used it for years with no problems *knocks wood*. I don't use it often though.

thats what I thought..I read about the *bank account* thing..and when I mentioned this to someone else they said that I was being 8scammed* because paypal doesnt ask for a bank account and of COURSE I shit a clunker.
*deep breaths*
I read the whole paypal thing, but of course, I second guessed myself when this person seemed so sure of themselves.
*kisses your toes*
I just gained back the 5 years I lost 5 minutes ago.

i love you ang..

Just be careful of scams that might appear in your email. There are lots of PayPal scams floating around that want you to send in your information and bank account info.

PayPal has a link on its site which tells you about scams, including the fact that they always address you by your name if they email you.

If I have to do anything, I always go to the PayPal site and do it through there. NEVER through a link in a suspicious email. :)

You can also pay paypal with your credit card (Visa, etc). The one thing I don't like about paypal is the healthy chunk they charge..seems to me it was about 6% on top of the exchange rate if you buy in the US. I only used it once, it worked fine, but unless I missed the fine print, there was no mention of that 6% anywhere.

p.s. Larry's makin' some righteous chips these days *g*.

I've never been overcharged when i've paid for anything with paypal, and it's hooked into my credit card. I think they've adjusted the US dollar exchange rate down, too. What the others said, if you get a suspicious email that asks you to click a link and re-enter your paypall password, don't do it. They'd never do that. The only legitimate email i ever got from paypal was just explaining new features. If you sell something and receive money through paypal, if it isn't hooked up to a bank account it stays as a paypal "credit". You don't get the money on your credit card if that's the only thing it's hooked up to. I had a friend send me money through paypal because i'd sent her something and she was paying me back. I just ended up using it as a credit next time i bought something. I thought about opening a bank account specifically for paypal in case i ever wanted to sell any stuff.
