Farscape Con 2005 - Thursday
I'm doing this day by day because it will be easier to read that way. If I were to combine all 4 days, it would turn into a booklet and would not look inviting to read ;)
Also, all the Con entries will be public so you can link back to them if I have pictures of you or stories about you *eg*
My first scaper encouter happened at the airport in Salt Lake City as we were boarding on the plane heading to Burbank. I spotted two women, one of whom was wearing a black t-shirt that says "Irreversibly Contaminated" and I started grinning like an idiot. They didn't see me because they were behind me, but they sat right in front of me on the plane. I overcame my shyness and poked the woman wearing the tee and said "you're going to the Farscape convention, aren't you?" to which she answered yes. She introduced me to her friend and we started chatting. They turned out to be Imloco2 and CrystalMoon from Terra Firma. I was so giddy to finally meet scapers but I managed to leave them alone and read a book for the rest of the flight :)
I got to the hotel shortly after 4pm, and the lobby was already packed with people who looked very much like scapers, except I didn't recognize any of them. I tried to check in only that didn't work because Mreen, our roommate, didn't know my real name and therefore didn't leave it at the front desk. I tried to contact her several times, but she was out and I had to wait for her to get back. I got all shy to head over to the crowd and talk to them, so I sat in a corner and watched them until I spotted Dabee (I recognized her because she was holding Iggy, the trout - more on that later) or she spotted me, I forgot which, and I told her I was IriS and she gave me a hug and started introducing me to people. She was going with a group of them to a bar (yes, already) so I hung out with a bunch of scapers that I didn't really know. At one point I spotted a man who looked vaguely familiar. I didn't give it much thought, but as I got up and headed to the front desk to call Mreen again, I almost bumped into said man and it was then that I realized that it was Lani Tupu (Crais). Being the fangirl that I am, I freaked, turned around and walked in the opposite direction. I bet I looked ridiculous, lol. I headed over to the group in the lobby all giddy and said "that's Lani!" and Tricia pointed towards a woman at the reception and told me that was Rebecca Riggs (Grayza). Dude, how long have I been waiting for this? I was ecstatic :)
By 7:30ish I was still waiting in the lobby and I decided to give
Em a call and let her know that I still don't know what room we're in. Shortly after Mreen, who isn't as nearly as old as she told me, came back and I made my way to her to introduce myself. Eventually we got to our room and I managed to take a shower before heading back to the lobby to wait for Em. She got in at about 8:30 and as soon as I spotted her, I jumped out of my seat and ran over and nearly tackled her. Hee. I helped her carry her stuff to the room while we chatted. We went back to the lobby where we continued to meet more scapers. I introduced Em to the people I had met earlier. A while later we decided to go get some food. Now neither of us know their way around Burbank so we were picking directions randomly in hope of running into a food place soon. It was around 11:30ish at that point which made it even harder, but we finally managed to find a McDonalds, but not before we got lost several times and U-Turned the frell out of the Burbank streets. It was hilarious. Same thing happened on the way back. I'm telling you, we got really friendly with those U-Turns.
We got back to the hotel, ate, and Em decided to take a shower and go to bed. I wasn't tired so I headed back down to the lobby and found some scapers watching music videos. One of them turned out to be birthsister, and we hugged the stuffing out of each other because we've been friends for more than 4 years and we were so happy to finally meet. I also met
Kaz who was with her, and we decided to head back to her room and fondle see John's dress from Coup By Clam which
catherinebruce had bought. And fondled saw it we did. We took turns trying out the tiara and touching the dress. The lower area was a particular spot of interest to us *eg* Many dirty things were said, but they will not be repeated here. Oh. And there was horse porn involving a bottle of Jack Daniels and the tiara because it wouldn't be a proper scaper gathering without stuffed animal porn. I've got pictures.
Anyhoodle. After the touchfest was over, we decided to watch music videos and ended up staying up until 3:30 am doing just that. Afterwards I was getting really tired so I headed back to the room and went to bed :)
