In the hope that it will force me to use my time in different ways, I've turned off the TV for a month (well 28 days and 23minutes... and counting to be exact).

Now I while I feel like one of those smokers who claims that they are successfully quitting when they haven't had a cigarette for only 24 hours (but am really so so so much worse as the box ( Read more... )

Rules are: the TV at home cannot be turned on...Annnnd thats it, I can use the computer, can watch TV elsewhere, can watch Youtube etc.

Well thats it until I find myself back addicted to the net, and then net access will be regulated too. But so far that hasn't happened (despite downloading the ABC iphone App on the first night with no TV).

Bloody Cleaning! It now wins out over dating in the 'things I can't be arsed to do' stakes. Which is code for my house looks like a bomb hit it :(

Interesting and I look forward to hearing how it goes! TV isn't one of my default activities, but spending time on the computer definitely is. Sometime I should try no internet for a month except a once-a-day check of email, but that would be really HARD!

I agree. I rarely watch tv, but I am on my computer a LOT. I download shows and watched the majority of it while I was sitting at the deli every Saturday. The last 2 weeks, I haven't had to work, I found it difficult to get through 4 episodes (not that I have been doing anything other than sleep).

I'm time poor as well, and television (well, tv shows) will be the thing I will be cutting as well. I'm going to pick the shows I still want to watch rather than continue to watch shows I used to watch but keep doing because of "loyalty."

And while I don't dream of craft, reading, cooking or dating, I really want to sleep. A lot. And when I am less sleepy, I'll decide what I want to do.

To speak up for my humanity, I don't actually have second season of Misfits so I'm not really giving that up atm. I admit it would probably be a bit harder if I was.
