I'd rather be in a car than trying to walk somewhere while people like me are on the road, though. There were little bastard schoolchildren on every other corner waiting for the school bus when I was working my way home. :))

:D :D my naked wall is ready to receive it! B-)

This is the very reason I didn't work for the entire week of Christmas... well, that and the snow was too deep to get my car more than 6 inches out of its parking spot anyway. But I have been where you were today, and yeah, it does suck the big one.

Glad you are okay!!

Good plan. Weather sucks. >:| Is a lot of snow unusual for the northwest? I knew Seattle got blasted beyond what they're used to, but I kind of assume that any state that doesn't attract retirees must get their portion of snow dumping. :-?

Quite! It was a very mild accident, as far as they go. :D

The mountains get snow, and the eastern parts of the states tend to get more snow. Its usually just rainy and cold on the western half, except in the higher elevations. The Portland valley got a little under 2 feet of snow over 2 weeks, a foot and a half of it the week of Christmas - way more than we are used to!!

Something to be said for a white Christmas, no? :)) I bet it was heavy and wet snow, being so close to the ocean and humudity.

We had four or so feet here a couple winters ago, and that sort of ridiculousness I can do without. o_O

Damn pole! *shakes fist*

But in all seriousness, I'm glad you're all right. As everyone told me when I had my accident right before Thanksgiving, cars can be replaced, but you cannot. :D

*hug*

And this one ain't being replaced until it's good and dead, which isn't yet! I need monthly car payments like I need a hole in the head. A nice set of monster truck tires might be in order, however. . . .

How are you liking your Yaris? I know you've mentioned snow since you bought it, so hopefully it handles well in the slippery shizzle.

I love my Yaris. :) I haven't actually driven it in any weather yet (... I don't even think it's rained!) except snow flurries, but the salesguy assured my mom (who is an active worrier :D) that it would handle just fine in snow/ice, so there you go. Let's assume he wasn't lying! I've never really liked driving in nasty weather, so I do hope that's the case.

Whuuuuuuuuuuut no snow or rain or nothing? >:o UNFAIR. Not that I wish this kind of crap on anyone because it blows, but. :">

With brand new tires, too, you should be doing better than most. :D

Oh, my! I'm just so glad that you're all right!

We've had a miserable winter here, as well. 73 inches of snow in December, and the first storm was the one the destroyed the streets and any thought so of driving safely. I didn't hit a pole, but I've slid through an intersection or two in my time. Know this; once you start to go, there isn't a damn thing you can to about it other than grip and pray!

And Dad and Asshat boss should both.... I'll edit myself and merely say that they should shut up. How's that?

Aye carumba, 73 inches! Even NBA players would be in trouble. 8-X wtf is going on with the weather this year, El Nino 2.0?

Thankfully I was able to avoid catastrophe and stop at the base of the hill before actually skating right through the intersection, albeit not in the lane I had originally been aiming for. I was certain I was going to hit someone and be at fault. Still amazed that none of the incidents I've been involved in up until now have been my fault, considering that I am the epitome of stereotypically bad female driver. (My new nickname at home is "Crash." That took, oh, mere hours. >:P)
