we have the reverse situation here...flickr is fine but locked LJ is blocked (you can't log in so you can only read unlocked posts). they've also blocked all web based email and flash sites. fortunately I have a second connection in my room which runs via Imperial and allows everything. I'd go mad otherwise.
All web based email and flash sites are blocked for us as well. I hope they don't discover the closet LJ users. I get my work done and I do it well...I just need a little distraction from the grind throughout the day. It would drive me nuts too if I lost access to LJ and the few other sites I monitor throughout the day.

OK. You guys don't know about using a proxy server to avoid this problem?
Check out http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html for info. You basically point your browser to the proxy and the proxy browses for you. Nobody gets to tell you what you can and can't view, and it's all encrypted so they can't even see you're doing anything other than gibberish.
YMMV, taxes and tradein required, not subject to other offers, etc. etc. etc.

That website is blocked at the office. I came home early today and looked it over. I can try changing the proxy server at work, however, I'd be surprised if anyone other than an administrator could do that. They've locked down our pc's in such a way that we can't even change our desktop wallpaper.

Bahhh. I'm not sure you have to change the proxy to use this. Perhaps you do. There are ALWAYS ways to do it if you have the ability to add files to your PC. But that might be more than you want to go into. I bet someone has a proxy that lets you run a browser in a frame and control it from the proxy's outer frame.
