Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

I quite like Will Gompertz's blog on the BBC. It's quite interesting and he sometimes has an alternative viewpoint which he isn't afraid to air. Such a case was today, where his post was to defend Autotune - a technological trick widely used in pop music to make singers sound better - and how it has been revealed as being used on TV talent shows ( Read more... )

when used in the context of a talent show such as X factor or in a live show, Autotune is fraud plain and simple.

I suspect someone at the Beeb might not be too comfortable with the above. Asserting fraud was committed might be a little dodgy legally speaking. Even if it's not, the Beeb is legally responsible for comments it allows to be published on its website and most likely doesn't employ lawyers to moderate it, just technicians who are instructed to who take no chances and delete anything they are unsure about.

Actually they go to pretty great lengths to say they're not. All that "not representing the views of the BBC etc." stuff.

I take your point though.

I went back just now & read the comments on the blog and I must say I am mystified as to why your comment broke their "house rules". The only thing I can come up with is legal discomfort with the word "fraud".
